John Shreeve selected by Liberal Democrats, to fight new Waveney Valley Constituency as election ‘finally’ called.

John Shreeve, chair of Suffolk Lib Dems, senior regional officer and member of the party’s Federal Policy Committee has been selected to fight the new Waveney Valley Constituency.

Local, born in Great Yarmouth, he has lived in the Waveney Valley for the last 32 years and feels privileged to have this opportunity to campaign for Liberal values, so fundamental to our democracy, at a time of such overwhelming voter disillusionment.

This is a direct consequence he says of the way our politicians and parties have behaved, determined, no matter what the cost, to pursue self-interest and the politics of division. He goes on to say, that its hardly surprising then that the ‘magic solutions’ that form the basis of most parties’ campaigns are treated with at best, polite scepticism, but in reality, universal disbelief.

John goes on to say that this campaign will target two core aspects - ‘finding out what voters think’ through a series of public meetings designed to reinject believable democracy, and the ‘promotion of Lib Dem policy’.

Titled ‘For a Fair Deal’ he says that the Party's manifesto provides urgent support for public services on the brink of collapse, funded by unavoidable tax raising measures (bankers, windfall etc) absent from Labour's approach, combined with longer term solutions for major issues that clearly demonstrate mature breadth of vision and economic realism.  Noting, that as the party running over 60 majority-controlled councils to the Greens 1 our ability to deliver on this agenda is entirely realistic.  

He concludes by saying that in this election, in the Waveney Valley, voting Liberal Democrat will ensure a revival of democratic principles where all are equal and with an equal voice and role to play in a free and open society where all are integral to the outcome.

John Shreeve, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Waveney Valley.

John has been heavily involved with the Liberal Democrats for many years having been chair of both the East Suffolk local party and Suffolk committee previously. He has served as Eastern Region vice chair and as regional treasurer as well as being on the executive of the Liberal Democrats in England. His current roles include being an elected member of the parties Federal Policy Committee.

Personal life

He lives in the Waveney Valley married to Fiona and has two grown up children and two grandchildren. He runs his own business designing and supplying profesional audio visual systems for use in a wide range of applications across the UK remarking that on occasion he does get his hands dirty.  The struggle to survive in business has given him life experiences not open to many and this has hugely influenced his politics.
