Terry Laidlaw

Costessey area

I have lived in Old Costessey for 12 years since my retirement from working in the Office Automation/IT industry. I retired as Managing Director of the largest overseas subsidiary of a major Japanese multinational.

Since then, I have focused on contributing to the community in which I live, initially protecting the lovely Tud Valley against inappropriate development.

In turn, this led to my involvement in local government and being elected, since 2019, to South Norfolk Council and Costessey Town Council. I am currently honoured to be Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat party at South Norfolk Council and Chair of Costessey Town Council.

The immediate future for local government is extremely important with, not only, the continuous maintenance and improvement of essential services but, also, ensuring the smooth transition of local government reorganisation to a unitary structure. My experience of organisational and financial management puts me in a strong position to contribute to this challenge for the benefit of Costessey residents.
